Installed new front Centric rotors and Hawk HPS pads from tirerack.com and made an interesting discovery. Had a bad case of the shakes but my old front pads were OEM FoMoCo pads with plenty of meat still on them. The problem is that my old rotors have some strange scuffing on them. Almost looks like they accidentally got hit in several spots with a grinder or something. Definitely does not look like normal wear that occurs in circular patterns. This probably explains what was causing the squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak-squeeaaak-squeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaak every time I came to a stop.
Whatever, not sure where this occurred but at least the old brakes are gone.
So I come to find out later this was not really scuffing of any sort but rather deposited pad material on the rotor creating an uneven surface and causing vibration. Here is my source: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml
